   Oh dear, I’ve just heard we are going to be without telephones this afternoon while they are installing the new system. I’d better let the manager know immediately as she said she was going to ring me from the airport with that report she wants sent out.

   I’m afraid I won’t be able to make that meeting today, Jane. I’ve got appointments all morning and then head office wants me to discuss interest rates at the board meeting. I need time to get the figures together.
